With increasing frequency, I find myself tired of “me”. The temptation to live for and under the realm of “self” where decisions are made according to my needs and desires is an on-going battle. And yet, as satisfying as this may sound, it fails to deliver any lasting benefit and can even leave us hopeless or disillusioned. But there IS a kingdom worth living for that always delivers and satisfies. In fact, it is the very Kingdom we were created for. The Good News is that the Kingdom of God, long promised throughout the Old Testament, is at hand and Jesus himself has come to inaugurate it. By giving our life to Him, we can belong to this Kingdom now and receive life “to the full’ (John 10:10). In Matthew 5-7, Jesus describes what life and community look like when they come under His gracious rule.
Join me as we study His words and we will be challenged to think differently about what it means to be a follower of Jesus, a citizen of the Kingdom of heaven.
