2009 Posthumus Family Christmas Letter & Picture

Happy New Year Riverpark Family!

Joy to the world the Lord has come! Let's never stop rejoicing in this truth. That God Himself became a man—dwelt among us to die for our sins—is that which will occupy our minds and our praise for eternity. What an amazing Prince of Peace and Savior.

It's hard to believe it is the New Year. Not only has this year gone by fast but I look back at the last 20 years and marvel how fast it has passed. Hitting the 20 year mark as the pastor here has been a great joy. I count it a privilege to have served here these many years. And the work of Christ at His church continues to amaze me. Thank you for your many expressions of love and support. Serving with Pastor Dave, who reached his 30 year mark at Riverpark has been so very good, too. We share a love for you all and reminisce from time to time about all the changes that have happened around us. Thank you for the special expressions of love given back in November. Your cards and letters will be cherished for many years to come.

Posthumus FamilyOur kids and spouses are doing well and enjoying this chapter of their lives. But let's talk about my grandchildren. I know you want to hear all about them—at least act like you do, okay? Ethan Bohr is six and will always have a special place in our heart as our first grandchild. He started school this year and loves it. Ellie Bohr, four, is our singer, smiler and the one always in need of hugs and kisses. Lucy Bohr, 19 months, has captured this Grampa's heart and her Gramma's heart, too. Our favorite word out of her little mouth comes when she comes to us, lifts her arms upward and says, “up.” Ty Angel (16 months) is our little angel. He's endowed with a preciousness we just cannot describe. And he too has learned to say that one word with uplifted arms—“up” - that warms our hearts. Our fifth grandchild, Grant Posthumus (seven months) joined us in April. He's got the sweetest of smiles that quickly melts us. He just began crawling so watch out, mom and dad. Another two grandkids are scheduled to arrive in February (Jaime and Bryan) and March (Michael and Danielle). Our blessed count will be at seven and hopefully not holding. Linda and I absolutely love this chapter of our lives.

In March we had to say goodbye to my dear little hearing dog, Hazel. She was two months shy of her 14th birthday. We never imagined how much a dog could hold such a special place in our hearts. Hazel served me in my hearing loss so incredibly well.

Linda and I celebrated our 35th anniversary in August. Linda is God's great gift to me. Her smile and friendliness are infectious and what a great gift for ministry in the church. Her willingness to hear for me makes her even more special. Thank you, Lord, for my precious Linda.

My hearing level is stable—a real praise! And my hearing gadgets and devices continue to serve me well. I thank God often for His provision and grace regarding my hearing.

We want to wish you a very Merry and Christ-filled Christmas and Happy New Year!

Blessings!

Pastor George and Linda Posthumus
